Worked example
Ten gauges at 25 L/min for 16 hours/day and 300 days/year consume an estimated 72,000 m³ annually. If half the time is idle and idle flow falls 90%, the avoidable volume is 32,400 m³.

Common errors and limitations
- Using compressor nameplate flow instead of measured point-of-use flow.
- Assuming every gauge operates simultaneously.
- Using electricity tariff alone instead of a validated compressed-air cost.

What air cost should I enter?
Use your plant’s validated cost per 1,000 m³, including relevant power and operating costs. If unavailable, treat the result as a scenario only.
Does lower flow affect measurement?
It can. Air-saving controls should reduce flow only in defined idle states and restore a stable measurement condition before use.
Is leakage included?
Only if it is included in the measured gauge flow or separately reflected in your assumptions.
