How to Select an Air Plug Gauge

The nominal bore starts the conversation; the drawing completes it. Jet position, land length, grooves, ports, taper, ovality, surface finish and required insertion depth can all change the plug design.

Worked example

A 20 mm through bore with uninterrupted land and 20 µm tolerance may suit a conventional two-jet comparative plug. A cross-hole at the jet plane or short land can require relocated jets or another method.
